Jamaican Beef Patties

Ingredients

  • Beef

  • 3 cups Flour

  • Turmeric

  • Chiefs curry power

  • Jamaican All Spice

  • Green onions

  • 1 Red onion

  • 1 White Onion

  • 1-3 Scotch Bonnet peppers

  • Garlic

  • Baking Powder

  • One stick room temperature Butter

  • Carrots

  • 1 Egg

  • Ginger

  • Browning

  • Salt

  • 1 cup Butter Milk or Water


Recipe

1.     Make you Dough by mixing flour, turmeric, curry powder, salt and baking power

2.     Add in your room temp butter. Once butter is mixed in, it’s time to add in your water, slowly.

3.     Put your Dough in the fridge to cool.

4.     Chop Your Green onions, Red onions, and white onions.

5.     Blend your green onions, red onions, white onions, scotch bonnet, ginger, garlic, and carrots.

6.     Start by browning your beef, and then add in your blended mixture to your meat and let that cook down.

7.     Time to add in your browning, curry powder, salt and Jamaican all spice.

8.     Roll our your dough till your dough is about 1 – 1 ½ inch thick

9.     Cut out circles in your dough

10.  Time to fill for Patties! I like to make mine in the shape of half moons.

11.  Use a fork to crimp the edges of your patties

12.  Whisk an egg yolk and use that to top your patties before baking

13.  Bake at 350 for 25-35 mins depending on the size of your patties.
